Baseball coach revamp

Tarleton State University has recently obtained a brand-new asset to lead our showstopping, D1 baseball team.

This past month, Tarleton State announced that collegiate veteran assistant coach, Fuller Smith, is accepting the position of Tarleton State’s head baseball coach, and needless to say, we plan to welcome him with open arms into our Texan family.

“I can not wait to see the new heights Fuller can take this program,” Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics, Lonn Reisman proclaimed.

Naturally, Smith is no stranger to the sport of baseball. He has a long collegiate history both playing and coaching the sport at a number of prestigious universities.

Smith spent most of his initial collegiate career as a baseball athlete at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), where he spent three seasons as a student-athlete while he earned his degree.

After his own baseball career had run its course, Fuller returned to Ole Miss once more to extend his knowledge and insight as both the director of baseball operations and as an assistant coach.

Fuller has also spent some time as the assistant baseball coach at both the University of Texas at Arlington and Sam Houston State University.

In total, Smith has spent 12 years offering his services to the sport of baseball, where he has earned himself a profoundly impressive resume.

Smith has abetted numerous of his baseball athletes to become All-Americans, All-Conference selections, and even MLB draft picks. Throughout his time as both a player and a coach, he has seized five regional and three super regional appearances for his combined efforts with his teams.

“My family and I are honored to have the opportunity to lead the Texan Baseball program,” Smith described to Tarleton State WAC sports. “I would like to extend my most sincere thanks to Dr. James Hurley and Lonn Reisman for this incredible opportunity. The tight-knit family atmosphere and culture they have created at Tarleton is something my family and I were immediately drawn to and we cannot wait to be part of,” Smith emphasized.

This upcoming year, Fuller Smith will drive Tarleton State University’s baseball team into full swing with his wife, three children, and Tarleton State’s students and staff standing right by his side.

Baseball fans are going to be sitting on the edge of their seats to see Smith and his team in action until Tarleton State’s baseball season starts up in the early months of 2024.
