Construction has been delayed until this week on the $1.9 million common, which will reflect new models of learning and creative thought. The project also includes $900,000 from the library access fee (paid by students), $100,000 from Permanent University Funds, $100,000 from the instructional equipment fund and $600,000 from Sodexo Food Service, Tarleton's dining provider. It is set to be a six month construction project finished in spring 2014 hopefully by spring break.

"We have a very aggressive schedule," said University Librarian Donna Savage. "All summer we have cleared out all the first floor and finished relocating everything by August 6th. We did not feel like it was fair to the student to have all this moving during the fall semester."

"I absolutely think we will be overwhelmed with eager students after the renovations are complete," Savage predicted. "Our goal is to create a really comfortable, collaborative inviting space for the students and to bring together some of the services and entities they need to be successful."

More information is available on the web at tarleton.edu/library/renovation. Information will be updated as the project progresses.
